More and more youth-serving organizations are learning that youth participation is mission critical. Targeting youth without first engaging youth is inefficient, ineffective, and inconsistent with their rights and competencies. Yet translating the idea of youth participation into effective, everyday practice is hard to do. Organizations are increasingly in need of how-to guidance to shift from working ‘for’ youth to working ‘with’ youth. Agencies and individuals do exist to provide concrete, how-to guidance, but this help is often de-centralized and generic.

Youth Infusion, and the handful of other companies that provide youth participation consulting services, cannot adequately meet the demand. That is why Youth Infusion is supporting the development of the enfusion Network: http://enfusion.network.org. The network will be made up of independent consultants, technical assistants, and trainers from all over the world, offering youth-serving organizations easy access to the help they need while supporting the advancement of the youth participation field.

Youth Infusion is financing the initial web infrastructure for enfusion Network, and looks forward to joining forces with other consultants and consultancy organizations to broaden our collective reach and promote effective youth participation practice. We have a lot to learn from the experiences of youth-serving organizations worldwide, and will begin to advertise network membership in the US and the UK beginning in the Winter and Spring of 2007.
